Holy Hour and Ordination

Please join us at the Crypt Church of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on Friday, June 24 at 6 p.m. for a Holy Hour to pray for our eight Ordinandi. The Ordinandi will be ordained by Cardinal Wuerl on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in the Main Church of the Basilica.

Quo Vadis Excursion

It was a great day for a hike at Sugarloaf Mountain on Sunday, April 10. Almost 30 high school men joined our priests and seminarians for a hike, a talk, outdoor Mass and a wonderful meal at the end of the day.

Spring Break Mission Trip 2016

Seminarians have returned from a spring break mission trip to Banica, Dominican Republic.  They mixed concrete and poured floors, cleared land and visited local parishes.

Christmas Caroling

The Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist stopped by Saint John Paul II Seminary last evening and brought some baked goodies and sang carols for us.  The seminarians responded with more carols.  A wonderful evening!

Pope Francis Visits Seminary

September 23, 2015

Our Holy Father, Pope Francis, visited Saint John Paul II Seminary on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 following the Papal Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. After speaking to the seminarians, he signed the seminary alumni book and gave his blessing.

Welcome Back!

August 25, 2015

Seminarians are returning to the seminary to begin another year of study and formation. We welcome 18 new seminarians this fall!

Summer Break

Another academic year has come to a close, and seminarians are heading out for the summer.  Younger seminarians will head home and take summer jobs. Older collegian seminarians will have pastoral assignments in parishes around the Archdiocese.  All of our seminarians who will be heading to major seminary this fall will be attending the Institute for Priestly Formation for the summer.  We wish them all a happy, healthy and fruitful summer!
